I’ve struggled with alcohol abuse all my
life, but haven’t used in awhile, is there a requirement on
how long I have to be abstinent?
Yes. We ask that applicants are abstinent for a year before
acceptance.
Are there any requirements I’ll need to
meet prior to being accepted?
Yes. We first ask that all students be 18 years or older,
have a High School Diploma or G.E.D, (for our NYC
applicants) pass our entrance reading and writing exam (if
an applicant has a Bachelor’s Degree or higher, they need
not take this exam but must include a copy of their degree
with their application) and have a successful admission
interview.
Is the entrance reading and writing exam
hard?
No. The reading/writing test is designed to test your
reading and writing capabilities at an 8th grade
level. In addition, if you do not pass the reading/writing
comprehension exam on the first try, you are invited to
re-take the test. If you have a Bachelor's Degree or higher
you do not need to take the entrance reading and writing
exam. A copy of your Degree is required with application.
(*NYC applicants are required to take this exam. Long Island
applicants are waived from this requirement.)
You may take the entrance reading and writing exam
before or after you submit your application.
Who should I call to sign up for the
reading/writing comprehension test? No appointment is necessary. NYC applicants must take
an entrance reading and writing exam at our
Richmond Hill, Queens Facility
Tuesdays at 6:00pm: If you have a Bachelor's Degree or
higher, you do not need to take the entrance reading and
writing exam, however, a copy of your Degree is required
with your application. Long Island applicants are not
required to take this exam.
What should I bring with me on the day of
the test (NYC applicants only)?
Bring your
completed application, a $25.00 money order or check for the
application processing fee (unless you are applying as an
Economically Disadvantaged Full Scholarship or VESID
Applicant), a copy of your highest level of education, and
if applying for partial or full scholarships, documentation
showing your prior year annual household income (1040, W-2, HRA
Budget Letter, 2009/2010 Social Security, Disability or
Unemployment Benefit Letters also accepted).
I interviewed, now what?
Take a deep breath and relax! You will be notified of the
result of your interview by the appropriate Training
