About Outreach Building Healthy Lives

Outreach is a premier provider and champion of quality, life-changing drug and alcohol abuse treatment and training services.  For nearly three decades, Outreach has reached out to build healthy lives throughout the New York Metropolitan Area.

Our Mission:

"To inspire individuals and families to achieve a life of unlimited potential by developing and delivering community-based substance abuse treatment services and training programs of an unmatched quality, depth and breadth."

From Our Beginnings to Today:

Co-founded in 1980 by Kathleen A. Riddle, President, Outreach began as an assessment and referral center in Glendale, Queens where an initial staff of three working out of a small local storefront encouraged local community members to seek help for their problems with substance abuse.  In these early years, the scarcity of resources and lack of services available to substance abusing populations in the Greater New York area were quickly discovered.  Treatment gaps were especially apparent for adolescents and women.  Outreach responded by designing programs targeting these populations with particular attention to youthful substance abusers.  As a result, Outreach's services increased to include advocacy, adolescent and adult drug and alcohol treatment, vocational services and community and professional training.  From an original grant of $60,000 for three employees, Outreach's leadership has facilitated growth today to a staff of over 200 employees and a budget of more than $13 million, offering state-of-the-art programs at six locations in New York City and on Long Island.

Our Continuum of Care:

Outreach’s dedicated staff provides nearly 2000 individuals and families with care and treatment through a diverse set of programs and upwards of 300 students participate in professional training each year.  Outreach’s continuum of services include:
