Ridgewood, QueensOutreach House in Ridgewood, Queens opened its doors for the first time in 1984 and has a residential capacity of 36 adolescents. Offering long-term residential substance abuse treatment to youth, 12-17 years of age, from all five boroughs of New York City, Outreach House is designed to address the needs of substance using adolescents who are experiencing problems in multiple life domains – legal, family, educational, psychological, and social. Youth admitted to care at Outreach House often have long histories of substance use, truancy, and involvement with the courts. Utilizing a modified therapeutic community model, the program integrates a full-day of on-site NYC Department of Education schooling, with counseling services that address every aspect of the evolving adolescent’s life. Outreach House in Ridgewood offers a well-established model of care as an effective alternative to criminal or juvenile justice placement.
