OTI Awarded Regional Technical Assistance
and Training Center Grant
In conjunction with the launch of the
NYS Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services' (OASAS)
Regulation Part 856-which creates tobacco-free services in New
York's chemical dependence programs - Outreach Training
Institute (OTI), the premier provider of high quality training
on drug abuse issues in the New York Metropolitan Area, is
pleased to announce training and technical assistance for
addictions professionals working in OASAS licensed chemical
dependence programs in The Bronx, Staten Island, Queens and Long
Island.
Funded by NYS Department of Health
through a contract with the State University at Albany's
Professional Development Program (PDP) - provider of the Tobacco
Recovery Resource Exchange (www.tobaccorecovery.org) - OTI's
tobacco training programs and customized technical assistance
services are FREE and designed to assist substance abuse
providers to successfully integrate tobacco policies and
clinical interventions into their treatment services.
CUSTOMIZED CLASSROOM TRAINING
includes: Understand Part 856 Tobacco-Free Services; Best
practices in tobacco dependence interventions; Tobacco treatment
with special populations; Managing organizational change
TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE includes:
Policy development assistance; Individualized program
support; Coalition building; Mentoring by modality. Day of
class provision - if you choose to stay for technical assistance
following classroom training, lunch is provided. Otherwise,
agency technical assistance can be arranged.

Module 1 is no
longer a pre-requisite for
all further courses. All
modules are recommended. Please note that attendance is required
for FULL sessions to receive OASAS credit. Registration
confirmation onsite begins 30 minutes prior to class. Please
arrive sufficiently in advance. Latecomers will not be admitted.
